Ladyboy Stand Up! - and he/she chose me

September 2005

As hopefully all of you know I am now in the southern Philippines in a city called Cebu City. This place is for sure very different from dear old Denmark.

I have only been down here for about one and a half weeks, but the experiences have been rushing at me. My first impression of the Cebu City was that it was quite a dump as we kept on driving around the poorer areas of the city and missed all the modern facilities such as the malls... Now it has changed we have found a nice hotel to live in with a ninth story view, room cleaning, room service, and a swimming pool. This has given us (the other intern and I) a more comfortable living standard, if not a bit luxurious. Things are cheaper than I had expected here, even cheaper than Thailand or about a tenth of the prices in Denmark in some cases!

One of the pictures I am holding the hand of a ladyboy, now that is not because I have turned gay. No, she/he was the best stand up comedian in town and as I was the only white guy in the house, I was dragged up, which gave everyone a great laugh.

Now of course to the most important thing! Work. It is actually very interesting as we really get to do what we want. We have just finished a marketing plan. And will be redesigning the web page and other marketing elements. I work at Kirk Outsourcing if anyone was in doubt.

Next weekend we may very well be heading off to my new Belgium friends place on an island with great beaches and jungles. He actually works for lonely planet and has been living here for four years.

When walking around the streets and malls I can't help feeling a bit like a celebrity as people stare, but usually also smile. Honestly, I kinda like it :) Of course the degree of staring really varies....

Anyhow, I hope everything is going just fine with all of you... and do drop me a few lines.

Tropical greetings from Peter!
